Botany is one of the main branches of Biology (zoology being the other); it is the systematic and scientific study of plants. Botany covers a lot of scientific disciplines, such as chemistry, pathology, microbiology, etc. It also covers specific sciences that focus on particular study areas of plant life such as Photochemistry, Plant Anatomy and Morphology, and Taxonomy. New sciences such as Genetic Engineering, Economic Botany, and Forensic Botany have also emerged. The Department of Botany at Women University Swabi aims to provide high quality education and research opportunities to women in these diverse areas of plant sciences.
